A cold case investigation project initiated 2006. Over the years, scientific advances had allowed for the reanalysis of DNA evidence in respect of historical, undetected serious sexual assaults and rapes. This program of work produced usable DNA samples which could be interrogated against the UK National DNA database. We believe that this was the first science led, cold case program, inspired and managed centrally. This is an opportunity to share the learning and successes of this work.
