What does it take to remediate once a forensic lab fails? I am often asked this since many view Houston now as a success story. The answer is a decade of arduous, painful work, a state wide support infrastructure and the humility to realize it will take decades still. The presentation will discuss the origin of HFSC and the constellation of components that have occurred in Texas for this to even be possible. Included are multiple examples where this structure and efforts we have undertaken have been repeatedly stressed and demonstrated the benefits and limits of HFSC's unique structure.
