Breakout Session 1 B: Topics in Canine Wellness and Training

The most important thing in detection training is to build motivation. With high drive and focus it’s easy to train an intense search and a solid indication. Without enough drive you can still train the dog to search and indicate but it will never be reliable. The dog will be difficult to motivate to search over time and the indication will be unfocused and easily distracted. A key factor in the training is to know in which order to do things. In this presentation I will go through the whole process from play and search development to indication training and systematic search.
