Across the United States, cadaver dog teams are called to help search for missing persons. A large part of the preparation that goes into training these specialized K9s is acquiring adequate training aids. Research training. Despite scientific research, teams struggle to acquire and train on source materials that would help them deploy competent searchers. Instead, dog teams are getting certified to detect human remains but cannot detect anything but the smallest amount of materials used in training. This lack of preparation is creating potential problems for teams to miss a subject in the woods.
